WHO CAN PROVIDE EPCs?

For existing buildings in Scotland, assessments can be undertaken by recognised professional and trade organisations.  The Scottish Building Standards Agency (SBSA) has entered into protocol agreements with various professional bodies to provide Energy Performance Certificates including The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, Scotland (CIBSE Scotland), The Association of Building Engineers (ABE) and The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
The protocol allows suitably trained and qualified members of these bodies to undertake  Energy Performance Certification of existing domestic and commercial properties in Scotland.

How the EPC is produced

Survey information is collected through inspection of the property in accordance with a standardised methodology.

For Public Buildings and Commercial Premises, the data gathered is input into an approved program (e.g. iSBEM) to produce the Energy Performance Certificate.

For residential property, the data gathered is input into an approved RdSAP (Reduced Data Standard Assessment Procedure) program to generate the domestic Energy Performance Certificate.
